Morfar, as he was lovingly called by his family stepped into the presence of his Savior at the age of 105. He was an enigma to those who knew him best. When it came to anything of benefit to himself, he was the most frugal man you would ever meet, a frugality that delighted in the weekly sales flyers and would prompt him to return to the store to correct an overcharge of only a few cents.
On the other hand, when it came to the benefit of others, his quiet generosity was unmatched. When emigrating from Denmark to Canada, he willingly shared with a fellow immigrant money he had saved so the friend and his family would not be denied entry at the port. To the very end of his life, Morfar lived generously and unselfishly in every area, always giving what he could and thinking of others even when he would fall or need extra personal care. "Are you okay?" he would ask, overlooking his own pain and inabilities. His heart was already in heaven, longing for it and looking forward to the day his body and soul and spirit would be where they desperately longed to go. Now he's there!
"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews 12:2).
Morfar's story is finished. His book is closed. The Author has put down the pen and looks into the eyes He has restored, and says, "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your master."
