Mary Lou Darlene Fagan, 89, passed away on December 11, 2018 in Gresham. She was born on September 29, 1929 in Minot, North Dakota, to Louis Edward Cross and Alice Jenny Amanda Anderson (Cross). She was the 7th of 10 children.
In 1942, the family moved to Oregon from North Dakota. Mary Lou graduated from The Dalles High School in 1947. Shortly after on July 19, 1947 she married Donald Lee Fagan Sr. They moved to Portland after they wed, where they raised their three children: Donald Jr., Linda and John.
Mary Lou worked in the Fred Meyer Bakery for the majority of her career, and she retired in 1984. She attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in NE Portland, and later in life St. Henry Church in Gresham. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, and sewing.
Mary Lou will always be remembered for the love that she had for her family, her dog Kimora, her kind heart and generous nature. She was a wonderful cook, and her family will miss the comfort food that she made them. She always put others first, and even when she was nearing the end of her life, her greatest concern was for the comfort of her family and making sure that they were well taken care of.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son, Donald Lee Fagan Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Barnard (husband Rob) and son John Fagan; daughter in law Sheryle Fagan (widow of the late Donald Jr.); grandchildren Kelly Barnard, Jonathan Barnard, DeeDee Templeton, Debbie Braden and Rebecca Fagan; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to thank Betty, Ana, and Emilia of Carlsberry Place for the love and care they provided Mary Lou in her final years.
A Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018, at 7:00 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Henry Catholic Church in Gresham. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
