Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, Ogden and Corrine Stevens; her husband Landry Pete; her son Ernest Pete; four sisters Mary Ella Stevens, Lou Ella Portley, Louise Keys, Earline Dukes, and one great-grandson, Joseph Carter Jr.
Survivors include her children, Mary Cole, Charlotte Pete, Paulette Borders (Ronald) and Kimberly Pete; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 948 E. 5th Street, Port Arthur, TX with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
