

Brooks, Marjorie Eva (nee Price): Peacefully at the St. Joseph's Health Centre, Guelph, Ontario, on Thursday, April 4, 2013. Born Marjorie Eva Price on May 9, 1931 in Toronto, Marjorie was the wife of the late Roy Guelph Brooks for nearly 60 years. She was predeceased by her parents Frederick and Cora Price (nee Overholt), and the sister of the late Frederick Price. Marjorie was most proud of her family including daughters Catherine Woolner and husband Peter of Ethiopia (formerly of Kitchener), Laura Rees and husband Don of Ballinafad, Lyndsey Power of Guelph and Julie Fox and husband Rick of Oakville. She was the much loved grandmother to Christina, Jodie and Steven Woolner, Marcus,Mackenzie, Haleigh and Bethany Rees, Meghan and Ray Williams and Jaime Power, and Ryan, Kelly and Jacqueline Fox. Marjorie worked at Canada Wire and Cable, Canadian General Electric, the Lung Association, Guelph Correctional Centre and the University of Guelph. She was a passionate volunteer giving over 70 years to the service of others including: Westmoreland United Church, I.O.D.E., Christmas Seal Campaign, Dublin United Church, Harcourt Memorial United Church, Wyndham House and Stroke Recovery Network. On October 20, 2008 Marjorie received the prestigious Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship in the Ontario Legislature from The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, for her exceptional long-term efforts in making outstanding contributions to the life of her community. Most recently she celebrated with Guelph Mayor Karen Farbridge and friends to recognize the 40th anniversary of Wyndham House, a group home for girls that she was instrumental in founding. Marjorie enjoyed her time singing in many choirs including the Light Shines, the beauty of nature, the occasional round of golf and the odd stray cat that came her way. Donations gratefully accepted to the Guelph General Hospital Foundation and Stroke Recovery Network. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Harcourt Memorial United Church, 87 Dean Ave., Guelph, on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery, Guelph.
