Ernest was born on April 28, 1956 to Mary Lou and the late Max Widenhoefer in the bustling city of Chicago, IL. After graduating from Carl Schurz High School he joined the United States Air Force and served his country as an Automatic Flight Control and Headings Systems Technician until he left in 1981. He was a proud veteran of the Air Force until the day of his passing.
Upon leaving the Air Force he continued his education at the DeVry Institute of Chicago to receive his Electronic Technician Degree. After graduation he began his career with Motorola for 20 years where he took pride in his work.
He enjoyed spending most of his time with his son, friends and family. He loved watching movies, reading books and watching his team the Minnesota Vikings play each weekend. He was always loving and willing to help anyone in need and many of the children knew him as Santa(Papa) Clause.
