OBITUARY

Laura Lee Van Winkle

July 25, 1947April 11, 2021

Laura (Megibow) Van Winkle, 73, of Woodland Park passed away on April 11, 2021 after a battle with cancer. She was born in Englewood, NJ on July 25, 1947 to the late Edythe and Sam Megibow. Laura grew up in Teaneck and Fort Lee, along with her older siblings – David, Paul and Mimmy (all pre-deceased) - who she absolutely adored. In 1969, she married Davey Van Winkle (pre-deceased), as she put it “the most handsome guy I ever saw.” Laura loved the theater and for many years this passion was also her work as a talent manager for kids in movies, TV and theater. She cared deeply about her community and education, volunteering extensively and serving as a passionate member of the Passaic Valley Board of Education and President of the local PTA. She was a positive force in the world and her generosity knew no bounds, having impacted so many peoples’ lives in ways big and small. If someone needed help, she was there. Her friends and family were her world. She was a proud matriarch. Laura is survived by her daughters Tammy Benedict and her husband Ed of Wayne, NJ and Deb Dulsky and her husband Mark of Westport, CT and her grandchildren who were the light of her life – Adam and Jack Dulsky and Shae and Lucas Benedict and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Passaic Valley Drama Club (Passaic Valley High School, c/o Jenn Shue, 100 East Main St, Little Falls, NJ 07424).

Dearest Debbie and Tammy,
Your mom and dad were important members of our lives at the Mulligan home. Each member of our family had special and precious memories of all of you. Mine was the wonderful times I had baby-sitting both of you! Mom and dad would go on their weekly date night and I would have a great time with you two!! You were the sweetest kids and I loved you both, dearly. Your dad was like one of my brothers and your mom....a precious friend.
May your hearts be comforted with the knowledge that so many loved your mama!! Love, Cath

Laura was a sweet kind and loving person. I first met her while working the voting polls in town. We were like two peas in a pod while doing this. Our personalities clicked right away. I hope my friend rests in eternal peace and I will carry her in my heart always. We have lost a truly respected and loved person.

I remember my first Girl Show in 2016. Laura sat with me and gave me a play by play commentary of this unique event at Passaic Valley.
She loved all things PV and was a hands on board member who cared about students and their futures.
Rest In Peace!
