In 2016 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Bladder Cancer and Stage 1 Lung Cancer. I spent the summer of 2016 traveling back and forth to UNC for chemo before surgery on 10/6/2016. I booked one long weekend for my sister and myself midway through my chemo just to have a place away from home where I could reflect on my cancer journey so far and for the rest if the journey I was still facing. Linda, Bernie, Edie, and The Oaks was my Cancer Oasis!! I swear the long weekend there is just as responsible for my still being here to write this is as any treatment I went through. I love you Linda and you will always be in my heart as will Bernie and Edie and The Oaks!!!

Linda and Bernie were always so welcoming! Their B&B was beautiful and they took so much time to get it "just right" for their guests. Linda always had a smile on her face and she will be missed!

Will miss you so much. I remember the first time I met you. We cheered in blacksburg with a bottle of wine. You made me smile. I will miss you. I remember the last time I saw you. I will cherish you in my heart forever. Love you. Joe

When I met Linda & Bernie, I thought they were the cutest little couple! They lived in this huge Victorian home and ran a bed & breakfast. When I said I loved the Beatles, Linda said, “Handsome with good taste, hard to find.”
I never forgot that and through the years of celebrating birthdays and Christmases, she always tried to find me something with the Beatles on it.
