Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, December 09, 2013. Born May 15, 1941 in Hoek, Netherlands, he was the son of the late Alphons and Jeannette (van Petegem) de Decker.

He worked for General Motors and Ford Motor Company of Canada, before successfully owning and operating V8 Motors Ford Dealership in New Glasgow for 20 years. His gift of humor and storytelling will always be remembered by those who knew him. He was a kind and generous man to his friends, but his true passion was loving and providing for his family.

The family would like to invite you to a celebration of life Fred’s way on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 2-5pm at the Petite Riviere Vineyards, 1300 Italy Cross Rd, Crousetown, NS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feed Nova Scotia.

My deepest sympathy for your loss, and my sincere thank you for your appreciation, although not required.....I was more than happy to do whatever I could to make this sad time as easy as possible for your family. Dear Judy and family. Please accept our sincere condolences. I'll always remember Fred telling me the story of Rosie, the parrot. We couldn't stop laughing. Our business meetings were always very informal. Fred was a pleasure to be around.
