Luigia "Gina" Di Liberatore

January 16, 1926July 21, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we wish to announce the passing of Luigia (Gina) Di Liberatore on July 21, 2020. Born in Notaresco, Italy, she immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her husband and two children. She was the daughter of the late Carlo and Felicetta De Padre. She was predeceased by her husband Bernardo and son Attilio, and 7 siblings. She is survived by her loving daughter Beatrice Paul (Kenny); daughter in law Sheila Di Liberatore; grandchildren Shawn Paul (Angela), Danny Paul (Nancy), Carla Blakney (Kevin), Michael Di Liberatore (Shelly), and nine great-grandchildren.

Gina lived in her own home in Halifax until the end, the lovely "north end". She loved her flowers and gardens, and sitting on the steps waving at the wonderful neighbours passing by. In her earlier days she was employed at Koolex Cleaners as a seamstress. Gina was famous for making Timballo (Italian sausage lasagna) and she also cooked for the Pope on his visit to Halifax.

A special thank you to Wanda Cornish, who stood by her until the end.

She has been entrusted to the care of JA Snow Funeral Home on Lacewood Drive. Funeral service Monday July 27th at 10am in the chapel, (masks recommended) with a private family burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Beatrice and Family
My deepest sympathies to you and your family. I worked with your mom at the dry cleaners many years ago. She was a lovely woman who always shared a laugh.

May the memories of your mother’s love bring comfort and peace of heart now and through the days ahead.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
It has been a few years since we have seen each other but I still remember the days we spent on Glebe Street.

To All the Family,

I am so very sorry to hear of Gina's passing. Both my husband, Dave and I had the honor of taking her to church on Sundays for quite a few years and considered her a Dear Friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you all! God Bless!

My deepest condolences to Beatrice and the family on your loss. She was a beautiful lady who I remember sitting on the steps on Glebe Street chatting and waving to anyone of the neighbors. May she rest in the arms of the Angels now...

Just passing on my condolences, Beatrice and Kenny. It's wonderful your mother was able to live in her beloved north end, and be with you for so many good years. We lost mum two years ago...she was 99. I wish you peace and many joyful memories in the years to come. Margaret
