It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Muriel Eileen Sillers of Bedford on October 25, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in 1950, Muriel was the only child of the late Gerald and Pearl Sillers. Her childhood was spent in River John and Muriel continued to return to her family home there throughout her life. She especially liked to spend summers in River John and she spent many enjoyable hours walking along the shores of her favourite beach.
Muriel graduated from Nova Scotia Teacher’s College in 1970 and she went on to teach grades primary and one at Uniacke District School for 35 years. Many young lives got off to a great start due to Muriel’s quiet kindness, patience, and guidance.
Muriel loved to spend time reading, shopping, and doing crafts (sewing, scrapbooking, ceramics, mandala painting). Eating out at a favourite restaurant with friends was especially enjoyable.
Muriel is survived by her close friends Nettie Crooks and Sue Wilbur and by her beloved pet, Dexter. She will be dearly missed by her friends at UDS and the Glencairn.
