Roy Lorne Boutilier

It is with great sadness that the family of Roy Boutilier announces his passing after a battle with cancer, on Friday, November 1, 2019, at the age of 90. Roy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Eva, and his children, Lorne (Linda), Roger, Shelley (Bill), Robin (Steve). He will also be fondly remembered by his 4 grandchildren, Jillian, Kaitlyn, Brian and Megan and 2 great grandchildren, Mateo and Malakai. Roy is predeceased by his father Levi, mother Verna, brothers Ivan and Eugene, and sister Rose. He is survived by his sister Georgia.

Roy was a quiet man with a gentle heart and a booming laugh. In his younger years Roy sailed The Great Lakes. He had fond memories of his time on the boats, he would mention this often over the years. Once he became a family man he set down his roots in Halifax and worked as a Long Shore Man on the Halifax Water Front. He worked there until he retired. Roy was a lover of nature and the outdoors and was known to have a bit of a green thumb. There wasn’t anything he could not grow, from vegetable gardens, rock gardens to a simple house plant. If you had a plant that was dying he could bring it back to life. If you were one of the lucky people to have Roy tend to your garden then you had a yard and garden to be proud of and enjoy for years. Roy and Eva loved to be outside going for walks, enjoying nature, feeding the squirrels and birds in Point Pleasant Park or just sitting enjoying the view. Roy loved his family more than anything, his best friend in life was his wife Eva. They were never very far apart. If you saw Roy then Eva was close by. They had a husband and wife bond that most people can only wish for. He is gone but will never be forgotten.

The family would like to express our gratitude to all of the wonderful staff on 7A at The Victoria General Hospital. Visitation will be on Thursday November 7th, 2019 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home on 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A private family burial will be held on Friday, November 8th, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Gate Of Heaven on Sackville Drive.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that you make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
