Born Beverly Bernice Ballard on September 1, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, as the middle child between her older sister, Shirley (deceased), and younger brother Wesley (deceased). And had a loving relationship with her father, Clifford, and mother, Ruth.
She married Robert Gabriel in 1951, and together they had four children (Vicki, Robert, Mark, and Angela). They moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1972. Robert (deceased in 2013) was self employed, and Beverly worked by his side in the business throughout their marriage. They were married 32 years and were divorced in 1983.
Frank Lambing (deceased 2013) and Beverly were married in 2002. Even through a divorce and subsequent remarriages, Robert and Beverly always remained friends.
Beverly always had strong resolve, and was not a quitter. Her final day in this world was on August 15th, 2019, fighting it all the way as would be expected from anyone who knew her. She left behind nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered as a great mom, who did the absolute best she could with what she had.
Memorial arrangements are September 1st, which would have been her 88th birthday. A gathering will be held from 10:00am - 11:00am, with a service at 11:00am. There will be a light lunch afterwards at the funeral home.
Her final years were spent at Cottingham Retirement Community, where she met new friends and had new experiences. She had a life-long love affair was with cats, and Cottingham indulged this passion for her. Her welcome mat at Cottingham read “Crazy Cat Lady Lives Here...Don’t Judge.”
