Geneva Janet Kerby (Preston) passed away on September 19th, 2020 at Hospice of Hamilton. Geneva was born in Hamilton, Ohio on November 5, 1931 to William and Martha (Hughes) Preston. She had a twin brother, Herbert, and they were known as Sis and Sub to the family. She had many wonderful memories raising her three children and entertaining guests in her house on Hastings Avenue where she spent the last 59 years of her life. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, reading, and shopping. She reminisced about her many trips around the country, with her most beloved destinations being California and Hawaii. She was patriotic and never stopped missing her older brother who was killed in WWII. Besides her children and family, her favorite things were make-up, her wigs, and her red fur coat. Geneva is survived by two daughters, Denise Devney and Sheila (James) Poynter, both of Hamilton, OH, and step-son Guy (Gayla) Kerby, of St. Joseph, MI; grandchildren Nathan, Melissa, Amanda, Ken, Jackie, and Jamin; 6 great grandchildren - Claire, Holden, Tessa, Cameron, Anthony, and Carson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James A. Kerby, daughter Rebecca Fern Ziegler, step-son James R. Kerby, and sisters Beatrice Kitchings, Mary Wise, Helen Prueitt Betz, brothers Julian Preston, Charles Preston, Melvin Preston, and Herbert Preston. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd, at 4 p.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or favorite charity.
