I met John when I started at Wyle Labs in 1997. I worked with him on a few projects while there. I met up with him later, having the honor and pleasure of working side by side with him as a fellow instrumentation technician at NASA's National Transonic Facility for several years. He was a very intelligent man with plenty of life's experiences, and always willing to pass his experiences and expertise to anybody wanting it. I learned a lot from him, and what I've learned from him helps me to this day. I am sorry to hear of the loss of this fine man, mentor, colleague and friend. My sympathy goes out to his family and Mary Lee. Of my friend, Thank you John for imparting upon me your knowledge, expertise, the fine horseradish sauces, assistance when I needed it, the humor when I wanted it, and the unconditional friendship over the years. I will surely miss you my old friend...

I was sadden to read of John's passing. I have known John since 1964 but hadn't seen him for many years. He dated back in 1964 and eventually married a friend of mine, Charlotte Campbell. My deepest sympathies to his parents and family. He was also a friend of my brother, Kent Stevens, whom I told, since Kent now lives in Clearwater, FL. He, too, was saddened to hear of his passing. RIP old friend.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to John's family and friends. I first met John when I relocated to Hampton after retiring from the Air Force. John immediately made me and my wife feel welcome as new members of American Legion Post 25 in Newport News. As I became more active in the legion, John was a big help to me and helped me learn a lot about legion programs and all the little things associated with our local post. I am proud to count him as a friend and fellow comrade in arms. RIP John and may God bless.
