Sherrill Elaine Souza was born September 11, 1936 in Hanford, CA the daughter of John Souza Jr. and Helen (Silva) Souza. Sherrill was a daughter of a dairy farmer. She was no stranger to hard work on the dairy farm. Sherrill worked for the State of California as a secretary for the Unemployment Office. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Grove, OK.
Sherrill was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Lyle Ellingsworth, one daughter, Letitia Cuelho and one sister Nadine Truini.
Sherrill is survived by her husband Grover York, Grove; one daughter, Lynell Gonzalez, Grove; two step-sons, Mark York, Hanford, CA and James York, Pago Pago, Samoa, one step-daughter, Tammy Reulman, San Martin, CA; one sister Patricia Negriti, Arroyo Grande, CA and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Grove, OK with Pastor Jim Paisley officiating.
Sherrill will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery; 11680 S. 10th Ave., Hanford, CA next to her first husband Lyle Ellingsworth.
