Terry "Trapper" Wayne Treadwell

June 9, 1950December 29, 2020

Terry Treadwell, 70, of Hanford, CA passed away and made his final ride to heaven on Tuesday, December 29th, 2020.

Terry Wayne Treadwell, also known to many of you as “Trapper,” was born on June 9th, 1950 in Hanford, California to Jake and Molly Treadwell. Like many families, Terry joined his parents and brother, Danny, working long days in the fields of Kings County.

He graduated from Hanford High School in 1968. Many of his high school friends would call him, “Crazy Wayne” for his fearless attitude, courageous spirit, and unique sense of humor.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was injured while serving as a lineman in Oklahoma. Terry was discharged and he returned to Hanford where he continued to work on local cotton and walnut farms. He also spent some time working in Montana where he enjoyed the change in weather and new scenery. After his farming days, Terry held positions at a couple of service stations in Hanford.

Terry’s greatest achievement was being a father figure to Jenni Willhite. He cherished sharing his life with Jenni at a young age and loved her unconditionally. He was so proud to be a role model and to see Jenni as a little girl turn into a young woman. He always listened, knew the right words to say, and was willing to assist with life lessons.

Terry had many interests. Photography, cooking, fishing, and jewelry making were just some of his activities. He enjoyed working on cars and could fix anything. He loved exploring the outdoors, often visiting Sequoia National Park and the High Sierras above Huntington Lake.

However, Terry’s greatest passions were his involvement with the American Legion and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He took great pride in being an active member of the American Legion, Post 3, Hanford, CA and he was also a founding member of the American Legion Riders, Chapter #3 in Hanford. He treasured spending time with his legion brothers and meeting new friends. Terry loved being on his motorcycle. Seeing “Trapper” riding his bike was like seeing a free spirit riding the wind.

Terry is survived by his brother, Danny Treadwell and spouse Brenda of Clovis; nephew, Brian Treadwell of Clovis; Jenni Willhite of Hanford; members of the American Legion, Post 3, Hanford, CA; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jake and Molly Treadwell.

Terry’s family would like to thank the American Legion and People’s Funeral Chapel for their support.

Due to the current pandemic, private graveside services will be held at Hanford Cemetery in Hanford, CA where social distancing and mask requirements will be followed.
