Amy was the cherished daughter of Edward and Barbara Burdeau. She leaves behind her sister, Cathy Upton of Glen Burnie, MD, and brother, Steve Burdeau of Seabrook, NH. She was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Lissau. Amy was a proud and loving aunt to her nephews DJ, Jake, Kenny, Zach, and Nick, and to her nieces Kristie, Allie, and Julie. Amy was deeply loved by her family.
Amy also leaves behind her family at Friendship Community. David, Chris, Rachel, and Glenn held a special place in her heart, as did all the staff and broader community who shared in her life with warmth and devotion.
With the unwavering support of her parents, Amy overcame many challenges to lead a life that was fulfilling and impactful. She was a gifted artist, painter, a joyful dancer, an enthusiastic singer, and on occasion, a spirited comedian. She also found joy in sports— including bowling, basketball, and cheerleading. Amy was an early and successful participant in the Special Olympics, excelling in track and field and swimming. Her talent, drive, and determination were matched only by her exuberant spirit.
To all who knew her, Amy brought light and love. She was witty, honest, and endlessly kind—a woman of profound dignity whose presence uplifted everyone around her. To be loved by Amy was an honor—genuine, joyful, and unforgettable.
She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of life will be held on July 26 at 10:30 am at the Hempfield Church of the Brethren in Manheim, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate any donations made to Friendship Community in Lititz.
