

Ann Marie Tobias Bakaric of Traditions of Hershey, formally of Jonestown and Rohrerstown, PA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 17, 2025, at the age of 90 surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 22, 1935, in Harrisburg PA, she was the daughter of the late William James Daylor and Juniata F. (Adams) Daylor. She was married for 40 years to the late Richard Jared Tobias and to Nicholas G. Bakaric.
She graduated from Harrisburg Catholic (Bishop McDevitt) High School, Harrisburg, PA and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Art from the College of Notre Dame, Baltimore, MD.
As devout Catholic she had been a member of Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church, Rohrerstown; Saint Peter Catholic Church, Elizabethtown; and Our Lady of Fatima Mission, Jonestown.
She was known for her quick wit, creativity, joy, laughter and love for her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ann taught four-year-olds for more than 30 years at Noah’s Ark preschool at the Hempfield United Methodist Church. Because of her creativity in teaching, and love of field trips many of her students returned with their children.
Ann, along with first husband Richard, owned and operated Victorian Wine Cellers in Rohrerstown, PA. She was an avid hiker and had been a member of the Pennsylvania Keystone Trail Association, and both the Lancaster and York Hiking Clubs. She was awarded LHC Hiker of the Year 1979. Having a love of travel, she visited numerous countries throughout the world such as Ireland, France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Russia, Greece, Israel, Egypt, and China. Two of her other favorite pleasures were classical music and the theater. For many years she had season tickets to the Hershey Theater. She also enjoyed traveling to New York city to see shows on Broadway. At one performance her quick wit got her pulled up on stage with comedian Dame Edna. During one of her trips abroad she fulfilled a bucket list wish by seeing the Passion Play in Oberammergua, Germany.
Surviving is her daughter, Teresa Ann (Tobias) Himpsl wife of Thomas Himpsl of Mountville, PA, two sons, Robert Stephen Tobias husband of Elaine (Reese) Tobias of Lancaster, PA; Jonathan Michael Tobias husband of Joanne (Greene) Tobias of Florham Park, NJ; Seven grandchildren Matthew Himpsl, Damian Himpsl, Jennifer (Tobias) Stoltzfus, Andrew Tobias, Jonathan Tobias, Jacqueline Tobias, and Jordan Ann Tobias and five great grandchildren. One surviving brother, William James Daylor of Hershey, PA.
Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Jared Tobias, a son, Richard Jared Tobias II, and brother Joseph Edward Daylor, Lebanon, IL.
A Catholic mass and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
