

Born September 19, 1924, in Steelton, he was son of the late Hiram A. and Carrie (Potticher) Longnaker.
Mr. Longnaker was a proud U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served during WWII. He graduated Air Craft and Engine Mechanic Technical School. He attained the rank of sergeant and served as Crew Chief and earned the American Service, Victory, and Good Conduct medals.
Art was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the PA Retired State Employees, a charter member of the Friendship Community Center, the Shellsville VFW, the Penbrook American Legion, and Robert Burns Masonic Lodge 464.
He enjoyed woodworking, ballroom dancing along with his wife, reading, especially WWII books, physical fitness, using the computer, genealogy, big band music, visiting Rehoboth Beach, was known for his innate sense of humor, and was an avid fan of the Phillies, the Steelers, and Penn State Football. After 39 years of service, Art retired from the Commonwealth of PA, Dept. of Labor and Industry, as Chief of Administrative Services. He was a graduate of Steelton High School, Class of 1942.
Surviving are his wife of 63 wonderful years, Shirley H. (Marsh) Longnaker; a son, Arthur Lee Longnaker, Jr. his wife, Traci; a daughter, Marsha L. Eisenhauer and husband, Larry; and two grandchildren, Chase A. and Morgan D. Longnaker; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 4700 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109 with the Rev. Dr. S. Ronald Parks officiating. Viewing will be from 10-11:00 a.m. at the church. Evening viewing will be held Monday, February 4, 2013, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Zimmerman-Auer Funeral Home, Inc., 4100 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109. Interment with military honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will follow the church service.
