
Betty Jane Sites, beloved wife, mom, grandma, Bop, and great-grandma, 85, of Harrisburg, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Albert Walter Sites, Sr. for over 65 years.
She was born January 12, 1927, daughter of the late John and Lottie (Fehl) Huber.
Betty graduated from John Harris High School, Class of 1945. She managed the Harvest House Cafeteria and the Woolworth snack bar and bakery. She was a lifetime member of (Park St. UM Church) The Shared Ministry, Harrisburg, PA, and was also a member of Lower Paxton AARP #4223 and the Lower Paxton Golden Agers Club.
Betty volunteered throughout the community and was very active in her church. She volunteered for 30 years at the Ecumenical Food Pantry and 25 years listening to children read at Sara Lindemuth Elementary. She also tutored inner city children for numerous years through a program at the The Shared Ministry.
Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed attending events that all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were involved in. Family and friends were very important to her. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and sharing what she made with others, especially her incredible molasses cookies.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Albert Jr. (wife Beth), Charles, David (wife Jeanie); daughter, Maryann Pavlovic (husband Ed); 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Mervin Huber and John Huber, Jr.; and sisters, Anna Huber, Helen Huber, Thelma Edmondson, Margaret Brown, Dorothy Pauley, and Pauline Madden.
She was the glue that held us together, the engine that kept us going, and the light that kept us shining. We will miss you.
