

Carol Ann Christianson died at her home in Gettysburg on July 28. Born in Chicago in 1937, her parents were Swedish immigrants. They settled in a neighborhood called Andersonville which centered on Ebenezer Lutheran Church where Carol was baptized, confirmed, and later married. She received a degree in Speech Therapy from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, in 1959 and a year later married Gerald Christianson. They had two children, Gregory and Rachel (husband, Barry Wyllie), a grandson, Liam Christianson (mother, Suzanne Christianson), and three bonus grandchildren, Ashton, Brayden, and Alexis Wyllie. She worked for some years as a medical secretary. She enjoyed bicycling, swimming, and cross country skiing, a sport she took up while the family lived in Geneva, Switzerland. She was an avid reader and loved singing in the adult choir of St. James Lutheran Church where she was a long-time member. She and her family traveled extensively in Europe, South America, and Canada, as well as the United States, and during her later years she and her husband spent winters in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. Her funeral will be held at St. James on Saturday, August 17, with visitation at 9:30 a.m., service of communion at 11:00 a.m., and reception at 1:00 p.m..
