
Carroll James "Jim" Fitzgerald, 88, of Etters, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012. Jim was born on January 12, 1924 in Harrisburg, PA. He was a retired school teacher from the West Shore School District.
He was a 1942 Graduate of Steelton High School. A WWII Veteran, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1942-1945. He attended Pennsylvania State University receiving a B.S. in 1950 and a M.S. in 1957 both in Agricultural Education. Jim taught Vocational Agricultural from 1950 until 1982. Throughout his life he enjoyed horses, farming and was an avid follower of Penn State Football.

Jim was preceded in death by his 1st wife Gertrude H. Fitzgerald (Handfest) and was the widower of the late Kay C. Fitzgerald (Cobaugh). He is survived by his sons, James W. and Douglas R.; daughters, Rachel McQuiston (Fitzgerald) and Gina Bittner (McCarthy), and their spouses. He had six grandsons and two granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 470 Yocumtown Road, Etters, PA 17319. Receiving will be at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 470 Yocumtown Road, Etters Pa 17319 or the Wounded Worrier Fund.
