

Born in Junior, WV to a coal mining family, Connie left home at the age of 16 to go to Bridgewater (VA) College. Upon completing her degree, she married and moved to Elgin, IL, then to Madison. WI, and finally settled in Elizabethtown, PA where she taught in the Elizabethtown Area School District for many years. She then embarked on a second career working at Farmers First Bank, later Susquehanna Bank, until her retirement.
Connie was an avid (and competitive) game and card player. She belonged to several game groups in Elizabethtown and Londonderry Village. Also talented at sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting, she contributed many, many stitches to the quilting group at the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren. As a long-time member of this congregation, she also sang in the adult choir and served in other volunteer positions.
Preceded in death by her parents Adis and Arlie Arbogast, brother Joe Arbogast, and son Dave Ziegler. Connie is survived by three children: Mark (Edith) Ziegler, Fort Collins, CO, Becky (Jeff) Eisenbise, Hershey, PA, and Nancy (Dave) DesMarais, Henderson, NV; as well as four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Following a private interment, a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 7 at 7:00 PM at the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 S Mount Joy St, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Living Well Institute, 20 Valley Rd., Hershey, PA 17033, livingwellinstitute.net. The family wishes to thank the staff at Londonderry Village for their wonderful care the past eight years.
