

Dan was born November 7, 1947, in Waukegan, IL to Kenneth & Delores Tindell. He joined the Army in 1966 and served 2 years in Vietnam and was in active duty until October of 1972. On November 18, 1972, Dan married his wife Sandra (nee Savage) and they shared a loving marriage for over 53 years.
Dan was proud to be a Vietnam Veteran. Dan continued his service to our country as a civilian at the Great Lakes Navy Depot in North Chicago, Il and in 1973 transferred to the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg, PA where he stayed for over 38 years until his retirement in 2011. Dan also loved working at Ski Round Top where he worked seasonally for 40 years.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings Kenny, Nancy and Sharon and is survived by his wife Sandra and his sister Paula (Jim) Gruber.
Dan was stepdad to Constance (Leung) Haisma-Kwok, Douglas (Trisa) Haisma, and Dawn (Knute) Ostrem. And proud Grandpa to Nichole (Ashley) Valient, Morgan (Mayank) Kwok, Ryan Kwok, Justin Ostrem, Payton Ostrem, Tobin Haisma, Leiden Haisma, and Great Grandpa to Nora Valent. Dan was also an uncle to his many nieces & nephews.
Dan was a people person. He was friendly, loyal, and dedicated to his faith, marriage, family, and friends. Dan had a smile for everyone and was always ready with a joke. Dan was also very hard-working, reliable, and had a heart for helping others. When he wasn’t working, Dan loved to be out fishing. He loved the outdoors and for years took every opportunity to grab his tackle box, fishing pole and hat, and head toward the water.
Dan’s light-hearted, jovial personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
