
On February 7, 2011, David Henry Shields, Sr., at the age of 96 passed peacefully away to return to the arms of his loving wife, Susan Elizabeth Shields, who passed on February 13. 2010. He was born October 3, 1914 to Edna and Charles Shields in Roxbury, PA. He retired as an Engineer from what was then the Conrail railroad.
Those left behind to celebrate his life are his son David, Jr. and his partner Robert Kepner, daughter, Deborah and her husband Garry Finney, sister, Ruth Gilbert, brother, Charles Shields, extended family members, Martha Solomon and Patricia Finney, nieces Susan Sampson and son Dane, Sally Konetskiand daughter Ashley, nephews (wives) Charles (Debbie), Carl (Suzann) and Collie (Jackie) Shields, Pittsburgh family including Phyllis Rodgers and so many other dear and loving family, friends and neighbors.
David was a loyal member of the Zembo Shriners of North America and a life member of Valley of Harrisburg, AASR, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, USA. He was instrumental in building a hunting cabin in Harry Johns State Park, Camp Loco, with other railroad friends and was a senior member. He loved to play along with the televised Wheel of Fortune.
He served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant where he met his Susan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pinnacle Health Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at a future date to be determined by the family.
