David Allen Snyder, 69, Duncannon, PA passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, along with his fiancé, Bessie A. Zuna. They were enjoying a Memorial Day motorcycle ride when they were both struck and killed by a vehicle that crossed into their lane in Steelton, Pa.
David was the son of Paul W. Snyder and Ada E (Spangler) Snyder, who both predeceased him. Born and raised in Harrisburg, he graduated from Central Dauphin High School in 1973 where he bid farewell to school by riding his motorcycle in the front door, through the hall, and out the back door.
He enjoyed being out on the open road and owned too many motorcycles in his lifetime to count. He taught his niece, Deb Weir-Shepley, to ride young and she got good at staying on the back of his bikes while he rode wheelies across the Harvey Taylor bridge on a regular basis.
David was a quiet, kind and caring man whose love for family, friends and animals was immeasurable. He went over and above to purchase a truck for a homeless vet and help him find a home and job. He also spent thousands on stray cats to get them shots and have them neutered and fed.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Richard, sister Sandra (Snyder) Hays and brother-in-law, Robert, a niece and great-nephew.
He is survived by two nieces, Debra Weir-Shepley and Tracy Hays, as well as many great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the family’s discretion. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to No-Kill Shelters and Animal Rescue Organizations in David’s name.
