Ed was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Frederick and Ruth (Curtis) Fledderjohn on April 26,
1939. He graduated from Short Ridge High School in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1957.
After graduation, Ed returned to Harrisburg and began his career as an insurance underwriter. In the early 1960’s he joined the Air Force for 4 years where he was stationed in California and England.
Ed married the love of his life, Priscilla Eileen Ferguson, in 1967 and remained with her for
the next 58 wonderful years.
He began his own insurance agency by day and worked at Lenkerbrook Farms at night for several years. As Ed was always looking for new experiences, he moved on to the drug supply services with M. Brenner and Sons.
After a few years, Priscilla was looking for a job and found a position for both of them to manage the Valley Green Golf Course. They loved the eleven years they worked there together. However, always seeking challenges and the “next thing,” Ed decided to start up two Mail Boxes Etc. (now UPS Store) franchises, which he ran with Priscilla and their son, Bret, until retirement.
In his spare time, Ed enjoyed golfing and could out drive many golfers, even some half his age. Other passions included riding his bicycle and spending time with loved ones. He especially liked having cigars with family and friends.
The constants of his life were his love of Harrisburg and his wife, family and church,
Colonial Park United Church of Christ. He enjoyed volunteering thousands of hours at the
church. He did inside maintenance, cared for the Memorial Garden, trimmed bushes, pulled
weeds and worked at the church’s Thrift Shop.
Ed is survived by his wife, Priscilla; his son Bret and his wife Mary Jane; his sisters, Carolyn
Kepler and her husband John, Ellen Stuckey and her husband “Chip,” and Linda Gilbert
and her husband Samuel; his two grandchildren, Riley and Declan; and many nephews and nieces.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Frederick "Fritz" Fledderjohn and his grandson
Lincoln Curtis Fledderjohn.
