
Born April 1, 1924 in Louisville, Kentucky, he grew up in Brodhead, Kentucky.
He was a printer and photographer and retired from the former PA Department of Environmental Resources. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII serving on the USS New York and in North Africa.
Mr. Mayfield had many hobbies throughout his life, including gem and mineral hunting, classical guitar, photography and photo retouching, crafting, painting and pastel art work. He also enjoyed spending weekends in their cabin in the woods in western Perry County. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Mayfield; 2 daughters, Janet Kalalian and husband Steve of New York City, Valerie Fegan and husband Bill of Harrisburg; granddaughter Alison Fegan; 1 stepson, Mark Varady and wife Jennifer of Halifax and 3 step-grandchildren, Sara, Mason, and Meghan.
He was predeceased by his first wife Ann Mayfield, mother Susie Mayfield and grandfather Taylor Mayfield.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14 at New Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 100 W. Main Street, New Bloomfield at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Rice officiating; visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg 17110 or to New Bloomfield United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 96, New Bloomfield, PA 17068.
