
Fay Elizabeth Shatzer Hull, of Edenville and a resident of St. Thomas for more than 60 years, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at The Shook Home in Chambersburg. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in St. Thomas. The daughter of James M and Alda Foreman Shatzer, she was the wife of Charles "Jake" Hull, who preceded her in death September 15, 1964. She is survived by two sons, Dr. D. Michael, husband of Molly, Mt. Pleasant, SC and Jere, husband of Pamela, Millersville, PA., 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline Sites, Ruth Bushman, Ruby and Virginia, and one brother, James Donald. Fay will be greatly missed by her family and friends that loved her dearly.
Fay was a graduate of St. Thomas High School, worked at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown during WWII and drove a school bus for 13 years. She also worked for Dr. Marlin "Mike" Miller, DDS, and Shoemakers Sporting Goods prior to her retirement. In retirement, she provided personal home care, volunteered at The Shook Home for nearly ten years, enjoyed walking, flower gardening and playing cards.
Fay was known for her love of and care for family, friends and neighbors and she deeply appreciated the care given to her by relatives, friends and neighbors as she became less independent in her home.
She was a member of Detrich-Brechbill American Legion Post 612 Auxiliary, St. Thomas; Norland AARP 3261; and was a life member of VFW Post 1599 Auxiliary, Chambersburg.
The family extends sincere and grateful thanks to the staff at The Shook Home for their years of love and care and also to Home Nursing Agency who provided hospice care over the past several months.
At her request, services will be graveside only, at 2:00 PM on November 5, 2011, at St. Thomas cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at St. Thomas Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Shook Home, 55 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to Home Nursing Agency, 761 Fifth Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
