Frank D. Davis, 98 years old, of Messiah Lifeways, died July 27. He was preceded in death by his wife Beverley and son Timothy. Frank is survived by children Blake (Kathy Metcalf-Davis), Mark, Sally (Margaret Benes), Lynn (Craig Soulliard), Wendy Baker Davis (Les Baker), Quentin, and grandchildren Donald, Jason, Brandon, Rogina, Roger, Mira, Bill, Brian, Rachel, Ian, and many great-grandchildren.
After receiving journalism degrees from Penn State and Northwestern, he worked for the Johnstown Tribune and then was Publicity Director for the PA Human Relations Commission. He was active with the NAACP, TMI Alert, Friendship Force and other civic organizations.
Frank taught his children to treat every person with respect. He modeled how to stand up for your beliefs, fight against injustice, and advocate for those that society overlooks. He was a devoted companion and caregiver to Beverley. Frank was a rational humanist to the end, content in the knowledge that he would be reabsorbed back into the humus of the earth, someday to re-emerge as new life.
