

Grace Schoffstall of Harrisburg, Pa., passed away at 9:45 pm on May 19th, 2025, at Homeland Center Nursing Home in Harrisburg. She was born in Pottsville Pa. January 19th, 1925. She was 100 years and four months old. One of 10 siblings, she was the daughter of Charles Mullin and Alice Evans Mullin of Pottsville. She lived there until moving to Harrisburg after her marriage to William Schoffstall.
A very talented self-taught artist, she was lauded for her drawings and paintings even while still a high school student. Although she couldn’t pursue an education in the arts after high school, she continued her interests as a hobby until, in her elderly years, she no longer had sufficient control of her hands. Her extraordinary talent and creativity were manifested in paintings, drawings, and needlework of various types. Throughout her life, a variety of things brought her joy. Among these were, in her youth, she enjoyed singing and soloing in the church choir. In later years, she enjoyed dancing at New Year's Eve parties she hosted, and in her elderly years, she passed the time with crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Her most treasured joy came from the time spent with her family.
She was a loving, generous, faithful, and brave mother and homemaker for her 8 children. She is survived by 5. David, Richard, Jan, Scott, and Lisa. She was predeceased by 3. Diane, Carol, and Gail, as well as her husband William. She has 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
As a member of the Hershey Free Church, she attended until, for health reasons, she was unable to continue. A memorial service will be held at the Hershey Free church at 330 Hilltop Rd, Hummelstown, PA 17036. The date and time are yet to be determined. Inquiries can be made through the church.
