
Harriet Mary Karen Kirchhoff was born and raised in Madison, WI, attended the University of Wisconsin and received a masters degree in speech and language pathology from the University of Michigan. She worked as a speech therapist and pathologist for more than 30 years: in Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Michigan and central Pennsylvania.
She was first married to Dr. John Simpson and the couple settled in Ann Arbor, MI. Widowed, she later married Donald Steele and she moved her family to Camp Hill. She is survived by sons Alan and Douglas Simpson, and stepson Sherman Steele, stepdaughter Susan Steele, and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harriet Steele Memorial Fund at St. Edmond's Home, a facility for children with profound special needs, at 320 S. Roberts Road, Rosemont, PA, 19010. Harriet's granddaughter Erin resides at St. Edmond's.
