
Born July 15, 1910 in Cearfoss, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Ethel and Grover Gabriel. She was a graduate of Williamsport High School and earned her teaching certificate from Lock Haven State Teachers College. Mrs. Sechrist enriched the lives of countless students as a teacher in grades 3 through 6 for twenty-seven years in the Red Lion Area School District. She was an active and beloved member of her church in Red Lion since 1931. She was a deeply compassionate and caring woman whose concerns for others were thoughtfully expressed in cards, telephone calls and especially in her daily prayers.
Mrs. Sechrist is survived by her sister Mary Fetter of Boca Raton, FL; and three sons, Robert of Huntingdon, PA, Thomas of West Chester, PA, and William (Gail) of New Freedom, PA ; grandchildren, Stephanie, Gretchen, Katie, and Bret; great-grandchildren Carrington, Bennett and Fiona; nieces, nephews and many, many good friends.
The family would like to express its heartfelt thanks to those who cared for Helen at Senior Commons, Deanie Taylor King Personalized Home Care, the Barbara J. Egan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and AseraCare Hospice.
A celebration of life service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 45 First Avenue, Red Lion, PA at a date to be determined.
