
- Along with his parents, John is predeceased by his first wife and dear friend, Jeannette (Hull) Stevens; and his daughter, Margaret Stevens Scott.
- John attended Bucknell University and retired from Bell of PA in 1975. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers, the Sell Memorial Chapel at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA and had dual membership in the Masonic Lodge of Abraham C. Treichler Lodge #682 in PA and Vance Lodge #230 in South Carolina.
- John served in WWII as a 1st Lt. in the Philippines under General Douglas McArthur. He received the WWII Victory Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 battle stars, the American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with 3 battle stars. -
- Surviving John are his loving wife, Phyllis; son, George Stevens and his wife Judith of Warren, OH; daughter, Holly Handley and her husband Robert of New Cumberland, PA; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
- A memorial service will be held in Sell Memorial Chapel at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA on Thursday, April 12, 2012. Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. with the service beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Masonic Charities c/o Gift Planning, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA or a charity of your choice.
