Born August 28, 1948, in Shamokin, he was a son of the late Charles and Bernice (Bixler) Whary.
He was a retired pipefitter from Hershey Foods with 38 years of service.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Nancy (Nauman) Whary; a son, Joseph Whary, Jr.; a daughter, Lisa Gardner (Andrew); 3 step-children, Sherry Schwalm (Thomas), Larry Witmer, and Tina Myers (Cliff); 3 granddaughters, Lauren Schwalm, Nicole Whary, and Change Witmer; 5 grandsons, Jeffrey Gardner, Jason Gardner, Kyle Leeper, Clifford Myers, and Kain Witmer;; 4 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers; a sister; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for family and close friends will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2011, 7:00 p.m. at Caring Community Church of God, 7176 Red Top Road, Hummelstown, Pa with Pastor Glen Beck officiating.
