

Karen E. Bateman, a kind and generous soul who touched the hearts of all who knew her, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on December 26, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on November 7, 1957, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, Karen's life was a testament to love, selflessness, and devotion to family and community.
Karen's warmth and caring nature were evident in every aspect of her life. A lifelong nurse, she dedicated herself to the well-being of others, offering comfort, healing, and inspiration to all those in her care. Her boundless compassion and tireless work ethic left an indelible mark on her colleagues and patients alike.
Family was at the heart of Karen's world. She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, creating cherished memories during family vacations, especially their annual trips to Galeton for the spectacular Fourth of July fireworks. Karen's home was always a place of warmth and abundance, where guests never left without a to-go plate and hearts full of her love.
An avid reader, Karen found joy and solace in books, a passion she shared with those around her. Her ability to see the best in everyone and put others first was a hallmark of her character, making her a beacon of light and positivity in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Michael; her children, Heather, Adam, Nina, Brooke, Crystal, Travis, and David; her grandchildren, Bre, Ayden, JD, Alex, Jakob, Lukas, and Bella; her sisters, Kim Gibson and Krya Granzow and her beautiful fur-baby, Nova. She is also survived by a host of friends and loved ones who will forever hold her memory close. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A private viewing for the family will be held, followed by a Celebration of Life on January 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Charlton United Methodist Church, 5920 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112. Refreshments and a light lunch will be served. In honoring Karen's spirit, we invite all who knew her to join us in celebrating the incredible life she led and the love she shared so freely.
