Ken was born May 30, 1942 in Highland, Illinois to Arthur and Helen Kettenhofen. He was raised in Troy, Illinois alongside his 3 sisters, Dolores, Joyce and Sharon. After graduating from Triad High school, he attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale Illinois. Following his college graduation, he spent two years in the Army stationed at Walter Reed.
Ken worked for the US Department of Commerce as a Systems Analyst until his retirement at which time he began caring for his grandson.
Ken’s greatest joys in life were his children and grandchildren whom he adored. He took great pride in watching them grow and attended all their sporting events and concerts with pride. He was a wonderful cook and baker, and his homemade pies were legendary. He enjoyed playing fantasy baseball, watching baseball and hockey, reading and taking long walks.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Dolores Dannenberg. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family: his daughter Lori, and sons Daniel (Kelly) and Patrick (Erika); and his 7 grandchildren Tommy, Sophia, Hunter, Katie, Jack, Tanner and Ty; his sisters Joyce and Sharon; and many nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Ken to the American Cancer Society.
