

Lawrence Edward Douglas, born on September 3, 1936, in Ridley Park, PA passed on October 11th, 2025, in New Holland, PA, after a long battle with dementia. He was the son of Helen and Edward Douglas of Lancaster PA.
Larry is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gerry, daughter Brenda Jurman, son Steven Douglas (Melissa), grandsons Gregory Jurman, Erik Jurman (Catie) and Matthew Douglas, great grandson Jonah Lawrence Jurman and great granddaughter Melody Jurman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Adams.
After his 1954 graduation from Glen-Nor High School, Larry entered an apprenticeship at Westinghouse as a journeyman tool and die maker. After completion of his training, he started his work at Westinghouse before moving to General Electric Space Systems division in King of Prussia PA. Space Systems was eventually transferred to Lockheed Martin Corporation which is where Larry finished his career in 1998 after becoming a Manufacturing Engineer. During his career Larry was privileged to work on many space related projects including the Voyager probes, Skylab and the Apollo program among others. His final project before retirement was the Cassini probe to Saturn on which he fabricated the Radiothermal generators responsible for powering the spacecraft. He also served on the launch support team at Cape Canaveral, FL for Cassini.
Larry was a skilled woodworker crafting pieces beloved by all his family and friends. All of us have collections of Larry’s furniture, frames, and all things wood in our homes that we will treasure forever.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Meadowview, Fallcrest and Caring Hospice for their care and compassion. Their kindness to Larry and his family throughout was a comfort.
Larry loved his family, and we will miss him terribly.
