Lisa Rogers age 67 passed away peacefully on Thursday August 22 2024 at her home in Carlisle, PA in the care of her devoted husband Lee She faced a brief but courageous battle with cancer, compounded by other long-term health challenges.
Lisa was born on September 14, 1956, in Queens, New York, to Joyce and Eugene. A dedicated and compassionate healthcare professional, she earned her college degree and went on to become a Registered Nurse, holding licenses in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Pennsylvania. Over several decades, she made a profound impact on countless lives through her work as a nurse and later as a Director of Nursing. Lisa also contributed her expertise in the medical field by providing critical insights for legal teams.
Beyond her professional life, Lisa had a deep love for music and the arts, often enjoying both classical and modern theater performances. However, her true joy was found at Disney, where she knew every detail of the parks, the ships, and Disney Springs. Her affection for Disney was especially evident in her love for Dumbo, though she adored Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the crew as well.
Known for her ability to connect with anyone, Lisa had an infectious laugh and a talent for engaging conversations. Her heart was as large as her personality; despite sometimes displaying a tough exterior, she was always ready to help others in need and lift them out of difficult times. Lisa was beloved by many and left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband of over 12 years, Lee Longland; her cherished fur child, Fiona; her sister, Carla; her nieces, Nicole and Alexis; and Aunt Dottie. She also leaves behind caring former partners, Len and Greg, close friends Jenn, Elizabeth and Antje along with many other dear friends. Lisa was predeceased by her parents, Joyce and Eugene. and fur children, Jake, Roxy and Rusty.
A celebration of life service/gathering will take place in Carlisle on September 14 2024, time and place to be updated here once plans have been confirmed. The family wishes to thank the staff of both Homeland Hospice and Senior Helpers for their kindness and thoughtfulness throughout the last few weeks Lisa was with us.
Since Lisa was not the biggest fan of flowers, we kindly request that, in lieu of them, donations be made in her name to the ASPCA and/or Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
And with that she would want to say this is the moment, let’s pack those marmalade sandwiches, I’ll be defying gravity to Believe and Soar, and to all of us she would say there’s a great big beautiful tomorrow.
