

Born August 9, 1924 in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of Willard and Harriet (Rice) Armstrong.
Sis was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard E. Armstrong.
Surviving is a nephew, David R. Armstrong and wife, Georgina, of Danville, California and a niece, Barbara Armstrong Yost and husband, Donald, of Camp Hill; a great niece, Kelsey Yost of Alabama; her adopted children and grandchildren; her Goddaughter and family; those to whom she was an unofficial aunt; and beloved friends who will miss her. Sis resided at Homeland Center for nearly two years and counted her Homeland family as a blessing in her life.
She was born and raised in Harrisburg and graduated from John Harris High School. She had a 30-year retail career at Mary Sachs Department Store in Harrisburg, beginning as a gift wrapper and ending as a fashion buyer and wedding consultant. She then worked for ten years with the Pennsylvania Dept. of Labor and Industry.
Sis was a very active member of Penbrook United Church of Christ; volunteered for years at Contact Helpline; received the "Angel Award" from Rejoice Foster Care and Adoption Agency; and was a generous supporter of charitable causes near to her heart such as disabled sports, service dog programs and therapeutic riding, to name a few.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23rd at Penbrook United Church of Christ, 56 Banks St., Harrisburg, PA 17105.
