

Marian R. Brode, 93, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA.
Born at home on February 1, 1932, in Maitland, PA, Marian was the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Hummel) Richard. Marian was a graduate of Derry Township High School in 1950. She was employed as a secretary at Siegel Law Firm and then Olmstead Air Force Base. Marian was a member of the Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren since 1958 and sang soprano in the Christus Choir where she served also as the choir’s librarian. She enjoyed going to the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference in the summer with family. Marian loved music, especially musical theater, and her favorite shows included The Music Man and The Sound of Music. She loved going to Ocean City, NJ with her family in the summer and she enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and celebrating Christmas. Family was important to Marian, and she loved attending family reunions and gatherings.
Surviving are her loving husband of 69 years, Robert; two sons, Richard Brode and wife Yvonne of Berwyn, IL and Andrew Brode of Camp Hill, PA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Marian was predeceased by five brothers: Marvin, Robert Eugene, Clair, Tom and Fred; and four sisters-in-law: Phyllis, Shirley, Fran and Sylvia. Marian was the last surviving child of the Paul Richard family.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held on June 26, 2025, at the Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren, 219 Hummel Street, Harrisburg, PA with visitation starting at 10:00 am and the service starting at 11:00 am. A second Celebration of Her Life with the burial afterwards will be held on June 28, 2025, at the Maitland Church of the Brethren, 315 Crossover Drive, Lewistown, PA with visitation starting at 11:00 am and the service starting at 12 Noon.
