Mary Ann Carmody

Mary Ann (Rock) Carmody, 81, of Boiling Springs, PA, went home to be with the Lord, on February 4, 2025. Born on June 26, 1943, in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Marcella Rock. MaryAnn, as she was known, graduated from Butler Area High School. On December 29, 1962, she married Larry Carmody of Butler, PA, and lived a life full of love and dedication to her family. She worked in the Circulation Department of the Butler Eagle until the family relocated to Boiling Springs in 1982. MaryAnn was employed by The Sentinel for over 20 years as an Accounts Receivable Clerk until she retired in 2002. She was a member of the Carlisle First Church of God for 29 years. MaryAnn loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren and her two best friends, Norma Hansotte, sister-in-law, and Virginia “Ginny” Johnson”, long-time neighbor.

Surviving are her devoted husband of 62 years, Larry Carmody; 2 children, Kathleen Lemmons of Boiling Springs, PA, and Michael (Janna) Carmody of Peoria, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Chad (Jessalyn) Lemmons of West Chester, PA, Stephanie (Drew) Bullion of Fayetteville, GA, Lt. Tyler Lemmons of the United States Navy, Christy (Andy) Crotty of Mesa, AZ, Cassandra (Andrew) Yanes of Cottonwood, AZ, Zachary (Victoria) Carmody of Peoria, AZ and Kyra (Devin) Ray of Peoria, AZ; 8 great-grandchildren, Barrett, Macailyn, Amberly, Callum, Evangeline, Emery, Elijah, and Desmond.

She will be deeply missed by her loved ones and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Services will be held at a later date to celebrate her life. The family wishes to thank her wonderful long-time caregivers from Christian Companion Senior Care and personal caregiver (Michelle Weed), as well as the staff at UPMC West Shore hospital for taking care of MaryAnn in her final days.
