

Merrill Thoman 78 of York PA passed peacefully at home from ALS disease on June 29,2024. Merrill was the daughter of the late Spurgeon and Louise Gingerich. Spurgeon was the founder of Spurg’s Restaurant on South Queen Street Spry, PA. Merrill started working at an early age at the restaurant and was a car hop and waitress, her nick name was Ginger. Merrill went onto become the loving mother of three children, daughter Kimberly Krout and sons Spurgeon Krout and Brandon Krout. She was the loving devoted wife of Earl Stanley Thoman for 44 years. She also leaves behind grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Merrill worked as the manager of Naylor Wine’s stores in York and Shrewsbury PA for 30 years. After her retirement, she embraced her abilities of palmistry and empathic readings her readings were done mostly at New Visions Books & Gifts in York, PA. Through her readings Merrill touched the lives of many people, and hopefully made a positive change in their life. Merrill loved life, was quick with her witty comments and brought love, light and laughter to all who met her. She was a beautiful strong spirit that has touched the lives of many.
