
Richard E. Deardorff, 83, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2026. He was married over 53 years to Tara L. (Beck) Deardorff.
Richard was a 1961 graduate of Grove City High School. He earned an Associate in Arts degree at Harrisburg Area Community College, where he was the President of the Student Government Association.
Richard worked for the Steelton Police Department early in his career, attaining the rank of Corporal. He later went on to work for and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, holding the positions of Corrections Officer, Furlough Investigator and Corrections Counselor.
Outside of his family, Richard was truly passionate about the sport of bowling where he made many life long friends. He was an avid bowler with several perfect 300 games as well as other accolades to his credit. In 2001, Richard was inducted into the Greater Harrisburg United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Tara, are two sons, Shane Deardorff and wife Mackenzie of Elizabethtown, PA and Clint Deardorff and wife Heather of Middletown, PA; five grandchildren, Zachary, Derek, Aaron, Logan and Avery.
