Born December 1st, 1941 in Syracuse, NY, Robert was the son of the late James H. and Keitha E. (Phelps) Brown. Robert grew up in the Broadway-Slovick village neighborhood on the southeast side of Cleveland, Ohio.
Robert spent the early part of his adult years as a truck driver and trades worker, most notably serving as a mason during the installation of the ice rink surface for what is now known as the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY.
During the middle portion of his life, Robert owned and operated multiple businesses in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania including a Hardee’s Fast Food Franchise on Rt. 15 and The Suburban Barbershop at the corner of Rts. 15 and 45. If not standing behind the barber chair of his shop, “Brownie” would most likely be found sitting with friends at the local Mr. Donut or bowling at one of the many central Pennsylvania bowling alleys of the day. Seeking a channel through which to boast about his own and other’s bowling achievements, Robert and a long-time friend/business partner developed and launched a successful publication, The Susquehanna Valley Bowling Newspaper.
In Robert’s later years, he returned to Ohio and lived in Northfield. “Road Dog” to those closest to him during this time, took immense pride in his involvement and close relationships with those in the world of harness racing.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Evelyn K. Donelson and her husband Jim; his son Bradley R. Brown and his wife Chelsea; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Matthew, Johnathan, Parker and Maisie.
Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his three brothers, Donald Brown, James Brown and Gary Brown.
