
Shirley was born to Walter and Ethel McDowell on November 19, 1936, in Dowagiac, Michigan.
She graduated from Concord High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and went on to receive a degree in Nursing.
She served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1968, where she worked in obstetrics and was a flight nurse. After her discharge from the Air Force, she continued to work as an RN in California until her retirement.
She was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in 1974 and stood by her dedication for over 50 years. She enjoyed teaching others about the Bible. She had a variety of interests, including gardening, knitting, reading, cooking, and family. Over the years, she devoted much of her time and energy to helping people and caring for them.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Nugent, and Son-In-Law, Gerald Nugent; grandchildren, Liam Nugent and Isabella McCoy; her brother, Leon McDowell; Sisters, Elaine Wymore and Barbara Sorenson-Brehm; and a host of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
A memorial service will be held on August 10th at 2:00 PM at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 773 Cemetery Rd, Williamsport, PA 17701.
