
William R. McVay of Pottstown passed away on October 31, 2018 at the age of 74. He was born in Drexel Hill, PA and graduated from Upper Darby high school class of 1963. He served four years in the United States Air Force and was stationed on several U.S. military bases, including Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War. He earned an Associates degree in general maintenance from a local technical school, and went on to become the maintenance director for Camp Council in Phoenixville for ten years until its closure in 1986. He worked as a carpenter for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Collegeville until his retirement in 2007. He had many hobbies, including target shooting, reading, traveling, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Susanne McVay (nee Neary) of Pottstown; a son, Timothy and his wife Melanie and grandson Liam, of Salt Lake City, UT; a daughter Kathleen and her husband John Binczak of Pottstown; and sister Debbie McVay Becker of Port Deposit, MD.
Per request of the family, memorial services will be private.
