She was born in Ligonier, PA on February 10, 1933 to the late Byron and Lucinda Neiderhiser. She was one of 7 children. She has been a member of the Barksdale United Methodist church for the past 30 years. She was an Award Winning Toy Lady, a square dancer and a former member of the Eastern Star. However, it was her family that was her main concern. Elda was devoted to her family, her friends and above all, her faith.
Elda is preceded in death by her parents, Bryron “Bucky” and Lucinda Neiderhiser, a baby brother, Jimmy Neiderhiser, sister, Althea Hohman and a sweet great granddaughter, Felicity Tobias.
Left to honor her memory is her loving husband and best friend of over 61 years, Dale Tobias. She will be greatly missed by her children: sons, Dale and Lorri Tobias, Jr, Larry and Rogenia Tobias, Sr. and Darrin and Patricia Tobias and daughter, Linda and Guy Bretches. She is also survived by her sisters-in-love, Joyce Varguish, Vivian Confer and Dolly Dorsey. Elda is also the beloved and adored grandma to Jennifer Welborn, Lisa Hebert, Larry Tobias, Jr., Karin Stanley, R.J. Greenhalge, Nathanial Greenhalge, Jessi Tobias, Katie Tobias, Seth Tobias, Zac Bretches and Zoe Bretches, their spouses and 11 great grandchildren and many other “adopted” children she claimed and loved over the years.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton and on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. at Barksdale United Methodist Church with the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. She will then be taken to Stahlstown, PA for her final resting place.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Barksdale UMC. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of WK Bossier for taking such good care of Elda and also to our church families from Barksdale UMC and Bossier City 1st Church of God.
