Joseph was born January 28, 1947, unto the union of Joseph and Frances Washeleski, in Shreveport, LA. He was raised in Bossier and graduated from Airline High School in 1965. In May of 1966, he married his high school sweetheart, Phillis Sue Phillips. The young couple built a long and fruitful life and marriage together that the Lord blessed for over 57 years that bore two beautiful daughters.
Soon after their marriage, Joseph joined the U.S. Navy, where he served in Vietnam. After the Navy, he enjoyed a long, rewarding, career at General Electric, in Shreveport, LA. Joseph was a faithful member of Heritage Missionary Baptist Church for many years and gave his heart to Jesus many years ago.
Joseph was preceded in death by: father, Joseph Washeleski; mother, Frances (Butcher) Washeleski; daughter, Jodi Washeleski Lloyd Craig; and two sisters, Vina Washeleski and Alma Pannell.
Left to cherish his memories are: wife, Phillis Washeleski; daughter, Jackie Darner and husband, Brad; son-in-law, Clay Craig; four grandchildren, Lexi Miller and husband, Tony, Zach Darner, Statler Craig and girlfriend, Summer Lussier, Keilah Darner; two special great-granddaughters, Lorelei Miller and Lillie Wren Miller; brother, Edward Washeleski, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive guests Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 1:00 pm within the Hill Crest Chapel, in Haughton, LA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm in the Hill Crest Chapel. Interment will follow in the Hill Crest Memorial Park, with Navy Honors. (Due to the Ice Storm, services were postponed from Wednesday.)
Officiating the service will be son-in-law, Brad Darner, Pastor of Mansfield Missionary Baptist.
Honoring Joseph as pallbearers are: Zach Darner, Statler Craig, Clay Craig, Tony Miller, Jimmy Edwards and Rusty Craig.
