I’ve known Joyce for as long as I can remember. Her and my mom have been best frIends for 50 years. My dad and Mike were good friends. The Sibley girls have always been a part of my life. Joyce had the biggest heart and was a good friend to my mom. She would do anything for her. I remember when I was a senior I wanted a prom dress I saw in a magazine. Joyce went and found the pattern for one like it and made it for me. It’s still in my closet! She made my mom laugh until their stomachs hurt. Listening to the two of them giggling made me laugh. The Fortenberry family will always treasure our times together. I hope after Joyce reunites with Mike she gives my daddy a big hug in heaven!

I am her daughter and have more memories than I can share here but this one is special to me. I was bed ridden during my pregnancy with Justin. I literally had to lay flat on my back for 16 weeks. It did not matter if it was raining or a hot day that summer she drove to our house every night. It did not matter If she had a really bad day at work or important things at home to take care of she still took the time to come give me some encouraging words and to tell me she loved me - and tell me that I could do this - have a successful pregnancy. We would watch Wheel of Fortune almost every night! She showed her love for me in countless ways . I pray that she knew how much I loved her, how much I admired her strength, and that I am proud to have called her MOM..

I wanted to share a memory I have.....I was great friends with her daughter, Melissa. One of the first times I ever met her, I was so impressed by the amount of affection that was shown between mother and daughter. I was a teenager and was not used to hearing the words "I love you" each and every time that I parted from my own parents. I remember looking at Melissa and thinking how lucky she was to have a mother that not only said that to her, but also showed genuine love and care about her every time I saw them together. I moved away by the time I was 19 and did not see her again, but I am sure that there is a special place in Heaven for her! Prayers for all in the family at this difficult time.
